At the beginning...

Finally, those sad ten years, while I had to stay in the orphanage, passed away. Ten years before, my brother had promised me that he would come for me, because he couldn't take care of both of us - he barely could take care of himself. With a childish mind, I cried to him not to leave me alone, but after these 10 years, I had to admit it, he decided very well. Under those 10 years, lots of thing happened, not only bad, but good as well.
When my brother gave me to the orphanage, I had no friends. Well.. they had their reason for it. To tell the truth, I didn't really like them or the caretakers. Maybe there was only a young one, who had taken care of me in spite of everything. Sometimes she had told me tales.
I hated to admit it, but I loved her tales. She told me about the world, about her lost child.. I pitied her, however I couldn't really understand the weight of life or losing it. One year passed and my calm little life became an exciting adventure. At that time two children arrived to us. They were twins, although their look contradicted each other. While one of them had blonde, long hair, the other one's black hair sparkled in the light. They were both boys. At that time I didn't know that they would be an important part of my life. In the first week no one played with them, but they enjoyed each other's company. After the first week, I decided to take my own seven-year-old fate into my own hands, and I would offer my friendship to them.
Stepping forth to them, I said the following:
"Hello, my name is Shiroyama Rei. Let's be friends, okay?" I offered my hand to them while smiling.
"My name is Jasdero - he's my twin brother, Debitto," said the blonde one.
Starting from that day, we played together everyday, becoming inseparable friends. But this wasn't that easy. Between Debi (Dero and I called him this) and I, there was something more than friendship. Childish love. At that time we were sure that this was real love, but we were silly. How would we know that this was only a big love for each other as friends?
Unfortunately they couldn't stay too long, a tall, old man arrived to take them, saying he'd adopt them. My heart hurt as we stood in front of each other. Saying goodbye to Dero was a little easier, but this wasn't the same with Debi. I burst into tears, until Debi hugged me, and kissed me on my lips. Whoever saw this would think it was cute.
That was the last time I saw them.
After this I became very unfriendly with everyone. I didn't want to be anyone's friend - I wanted them to leave me alone. I didn't want any other friends than Debi and Dero.
I made more and more pranks, which I had learned from Debitto and Dero. They caught us lots of times, but they had always made me happy, as well as the people in the orphanage.
The ten years passed slowly before my brother finally came to take me. His dark, almost black hair looked like mine. We couldn't deny that we were siblings.
I said goodbye only to the thirty-three year old caretaker, who had told me many tales and had taken care of me. She gave me earrings as a gift, which were supposed to be her daughter's earrings, but because she died too young, she could never wear them. Maybe she saw her lost child in me, since I had long brown hair and warm, brown eyes too. Then, being sixteen years old, I could understand her pain more than before. I hugged her tightly, and whispered into her ears: "Thank you for everything, mom."
Tears started coming from her eyes, she couldn't say a word. I saw her blushing, and as I was waving behind me, she said the following: "Take care, little Rei."
I didn't turn back, not wanting to make her more sad, but I cried too.
As I later learned, my brother lived in a little town, where he had a house with two rooms. Looking at the house, it appeared old and a little collapsed. However, upon entering, the house surprised me as it was so nice and clean. I never imagined that my brother could take care of things like this.
I started to work too, and we managed to have our own fruit and vegetables shop. It was going well, and it wasn't a bad livelihood.
Once on a winter day, I was walking in the forest, when something big and black attacked me. It shot me, and black stars started to appear on my arm. I sensed the pain, but I didn't know why, it ended very soon, the stars disappearing too. Then from out of nowhere two boys appeared. They seemed unfamiliar to me, but when they stepped closer I recognized my two friends from the orphanage. It was Debi and Dero. They killed that thing and hurried to me. They couldn't believe their eyes that it was me, just as I couldn't believe it was them. They helped me to stand up, and they hugged me. A few teardrops fell from my eyes too. Both of them had become very handsome, especially my childhood love Debi. They complimented me too: "You became a beautiful lady, Rei."
I was happy to see them, but it couldn't last for too long, as they had to leave. At that time I hadn't noticed it, but later I realized that their skin was gray, and there were little crosses on their foreheads. Because they disappeared from my sight, I couldn't ask what these things were, and later I kinda forgot about it too. Returning home, I didn't tell Tyki about them, as I didn't wanted him to worry.
It was spring already, when one of those black things appeared again in the town, moreover there were more too. They destroyed a lot, and tons of people lost their life. We could literally smell the huge mass of blood.
One of the black things were after me, attacking our shop, but suddenly from the sky a dark blue-haired boy appeared and sliced it in half, and it felt to our shop.
I became angry, even though he saved my life. We worked a lot to reach this far, and now in a blink of eye they destroyed it – our little shop was gone. I leaned close to him, and I noticed only now how handsome he was, and while blushing I could say only this:
"P-pay for it, b-baka!"
"Kanda," he answered bluntly.
"Huh?" I didn't understand what he meant.
"My name is Kanda, not baka. Che," he grumbled with a scowl.
Then another black thing appeared, made his way to the forest in the far distance, and the boy rushed after it, leaving me there with the things he had destroyed. I didn't know why, but my legs started to move on their own, and I started to follow him.
I even followed him all the way up until he came to a big mountain. It was really huge, but for him it was a piece of cake. I was afraid of the height, but I just couldn't leave things like this, so I overcame my fear, and I started to climb it.
It took me about fifteen minutes to reach the top, and once up, I saw a big castle-like building in front of me. It looked a little fearsome. It was big, circular and had lots of floors. In the front, there was a huge door. Since I didn't really see any other entrance to the castle, I stepped closer to enter, but then the face on the wall, which had been calm until then, moved.
Surprised, I stepped back, but I ended up falling down on my butt. The door started to speak. He screamed before he was calmed, and then as he if had gone mad, he started to speak in a strange language. However, the door opened. I was a little afraid to enter, but slowly it was closing, so I entered into the castle before I was shut out. Inside the castle the view was breathtaking. It probably had at least ten floors, but as I stepped to the lower wall in front of me and looked over, in the depths there were more floors. It was so much, I felt dizzy. Then I could hear a man's voice coming from the speakers, saying the following:
"All exorcists come to the second floor."
I didn't know what "Exorcist" meant, but somehow I felt that boy might be one of them, so I took my way to the second floor. Once there, I saw an office room. Lots of strange people were heading there, so I thought I ought to go there as well. Lastly, that so-called Kanda boy entered the room, and I hurried to enter too. Everyone was surprised seeing the new, unfamiliar person standing behind Kanda...
So, the first chapter of my long and still ongoing D.Gray-man fanfiction :3

Can't believe that I actually found this! I do realize that this is the older version and that there's a lot that changed about Rei ever since you wrote this however my friend and I couldn't help but read it and it was honestly hilarious, we had a really good laugh in a while. We weren't making fun of it, I swear! Although it was quite adorably absurd which was what made it so fun to read~ The grammar could definitely improve in some places but I won't go into detail since I do realizethat this is old plus English isn't your first language. I generally enjoy reading stories with good plot or interesting ideas as long as they don't have any spelling mistakes that make me double check what the author meant every two seconds XD

Now for the main point of my comment; I hope that you know that I like and admire you very much and do consider you a rival as a fellow artist as well as my senior in this fandom, and as such, I do hope to help whenever I can especially when I see some hhuge potential in something ^^
I know you said that you don't write anymore (I can't remember or find the comment section where we had that conversation) due to peculiar reasons which lead me to believe it might've been the work of haters. But I think that'd be such a waste! Rei grew so much from when you first wrote this and I just know her story is one that'd be worth telling espcially since most do't know about the real/current her and remember her by her older version. I do realize that its hard to get back to it especially when you don't have the drive (believe me, I know, I've been on a writing hiatus for a while), which is why I'm offering the suggestion of a collab with a firend. You could either collaboratively write with someone, or you provide the ideas and they'll write it, you could even turn it into a doujin since you're such a great artist and seem to prefer drawing out your characters to expres them rather than using words to do so! I'm not asking for you to figure that all out right now, but to just keep it in mind since I realize that you have your own agenda and priorities right now. Which is another reason as to why collabs are so helpful since it halves the strai for both parties!

Drawings can only tell so much about someone, same with words, which is why it's best to keep a good balance between the two to bring out the full picture! At leas, that's what I'd like to believe in...
Anyways... I just hope that you know I'm willig and trying to help. You'll probs not even read this until after our trip to Japan so I again wish you all the fun in the world while going there.
I'll end this comment here even though I have several more points to make. I think I've rambled enough. Please don't feel pressured by this, I'm trying to be a bother, just tryna help >.>
